For the last 30 or so
years, the image of ideal male physique has been and continues to be distorted
by the bulk-crazy judges. Not only that, but all of this is perpetuated by the
majority of the bodybuilding magazines and organizations for their own financial
gains. Disappointingly, this is done with little, if any, regard as to what
impression the bulky image they are promoting and encouraging has on the
uninitiated person on the street. Only a selected few bodybuilding
organizations had the courage and concern for the sport to come out with rules
and regulations against steroids, bulking up, and in favor of health,
proportion and symmetry.
Too much size doesn’t make a good impression
or gain admiration and respect for the sport of bodybuilding. You may say,
“Well everyone looks at a guy that is really bulked up.” Yes they do, but are
they looking with admiration, curiosity or thinking that he should be in a
freak show? Don’t forget that these same people will also gawk at a man who
stands 8-feet tall and weights 400 pounds. And who, if they had their choice,
would want to be 8-feet tall unless they want to be a basketball star?
I’m not putting down great physiques as Arnold
and Sergio, Lee. These champions through years of hard work went on to build some
of the greatest physiques the sport will ever see. As I look at their careers
and many others, I think that they could’ve done much better job of promoting
and popularizing bodybuilding if only they hadn’t succumbed to the propaganda
of BIGGER IS BETTER AND BULK IS BEAUTIFUL…The majority of the blame for this
craziness should be placed on the organizations and judges who emphasized bulk
and sorely neglected the absolute beauty of a human body that is balanced and
symmetrical.
These are the reasons why I decided to create
Bulgarian Bodybuilding and Fitness Federation (BNBFF). BNBFF is the only
bodybuilding organization in Bulgaria
to promote drug – free competitions. Now BNBFF is official Representative for International
Natural Bodybuilding Association (INBA) in Bulgaria. INBA Bulgaria is part of
40 other participating countries supporting natural sports within the INBA.
